BEWARE!!
Below is a list of unsafe food products that should not give to your parrots

Chocolate - in any form should not be given to your birds

Avacado - Should not be given under any circumstances.

Table Salt - when fed excessively will cause increased thirst to increased water consumption to increased urination.

Cooked and raw onions - when fed in large quantities can be toxic to your bird.  Onions contain the chemical n-propyl disulfide which denatures haemoglobin. this in turn will destroy the Red Cells thus causing Anemia, Jaundice,****** urine.  Be cautious if feeding in small quantities.!!

Alcohol - Should not be given under any circumstances.

Apple seeds - The seeds contain cyanide, always remove core and pips before feeding.

Mushrooms - Have the potential to be toxic.

Dairy items are not digested in birds. Birds do not have the digestive enzymes necessary to process milk. There are some products available on the market as an alternative to dairy products. Soy milk,Tofu Cheese, etc.

Caffine and Carbonated drinks should be avoided at all costs.

Edited to add upon reading about Sun Conures, IceBerg Lettuce should not be given to them.

Ive got a question to ask? I see onions is on the toxic list. I was told by my birds breeder to include spring onions in his diet (which my bird loves!.....and gives him smelly breath!!) are these OK?  ???

I feed my two greys spring onions in small quanties, I never knew these were a problem.  Me thinks I will have to research this one.

I do not feed normal onions though.

No, I havent fed him other onions either, only the spring onions. I only give him 1 a day which is chopped up and mixed in with the rest of his food, so its a small quantity anyway.

Ive done a vast search on giving spring onions to parrots, none of which say thats its unsafe for us to feed them to our feathered friends, I found a African Grey Breeding page and they recommend giving spring onions. My Senegal loves them occasionally.
Hope this helps, maybe Tracey will be able to find something more.
